Mitsubishi Materials Corporation

Implementation of New Human Resources Measures to Realize the Human Resources Strategy of the FY2031 Strategy
- Start of the revision of the personnel system for non-managerial positions and alumni recruitment -

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation ("MMC") has been working on various measures under the goals of "realizing flexible employment and work styles" and "accelerating transformation through integrating diverse human resources and their values" in the human resources strategy of the Medium-term Management Strategy FY2031 (FY2031 Strategy), which started in the fiscal year ended March 2024.
In April of this year, MMC will begin the "revision of the personnel system for non-managerial positions" and "alumni recruitment" as new personnel measures.

  1. Revision of the personnel system for non-managerial positions
The human resources strategy of the FY2031 Strategy includes the following policies:
    • "Further development of job-/role-based human resource management" in order to deepen human resource management with an awareness of the external labor market
    • "Creation of an environment and fostering of an organizational culture supporting flexible work styles" that are not restricted by time or place

Under these policies, MMC has introduced a Job-based HR System, Work-from-home System, and Remote Work System for managerial positions to support flexible work styles, and promoted demonstration of better performance according to the job expected of each individual.
In order to continue to attract and retain employees who can maximize their abilities and contribute to the enhancement of our corporate value, MMC is revising its personnel system for non-managerial positions as follows.

    1. Introduction of a role-based grading system
MMC will revise the system of determining grades and compensation according to age and years of service and introduce a "role-based grading system," in which grades are determined by factors such as role responsibilities, job difficulty, and required expertise, and compensation is determined according to the results of the work and the degree of contribution to the company more than before.
In addition, duties, which have been classified (into career-track and key positions) based on the possibility of transfer and the scope of activities, will be integrated to revise the concept that transfer is assumed for certain duties and MMC aims for a grading system ensuring that the scope of activities is not limited by the duty.
    2. Confirmation of desired work area and establishment of a lump-sum relocation assistance payment
MMC aims to establish a system that allows for necessary transfers while reducing unwanted transfers as much as possible, in which each employee's desired work area is confirmed in the annual reporting and their wishes and circumstances regarding transfers are taken into consideration. In addition, a new lump-sum relocation assistance payment will be provided at the time of relocation primarily to manufacturing sites.
  2. Start of alumni recruitment
One measure for "accelerating transformation through integrating diverse human resources and their values" in the human resources strategy of the FY2031 Strategy is "developing and retaining diverse human resources."
The alumni recruitment initiative that MMC is launching will demonstrate that MMC welcomes retirees to rejoin the company and MMC will create an environment that facilitates their approaching the company. The alumni website to be newly launched is intended to create connections with our retirees and will be used to acquire human resources with competence, including knowledge and expertise cultivated inside and outside our company, through continuous communication. In the future, we also plan to expand this initiative to include those who declined informal job offers in the regular hiring of new graduates.
    (*)
Alumni recruitment is a method of hiring former employees who left the company in the past, with the aim of having them rejoin our workforce.
