Mitsubishi Materials Corporation ("MMC") launched the MMC Acceleration Program "Wild Wind" in November 2023. This acceleration program aims to create new businesses through collaborative creation with startups and other external partners with a view to sustainable business growth, and MMC has started commercialization preparations for two themes.
In "Wild Wind 2024," the second year of the program, the organization of the program is expanded to proactively accept collaborative creation ideas from external partners in addition to taking up themes proposed by MMC. Through collaboration with partners, MMC will accelerate efforts toward commercialization by promptly verifying hypotheses and conducting demonstration tests.

We recruit partners that propose new business themes in the five areas we are actively promoting, as well as partners that commercialize themes we propose through collaborative creation.
The selected partners will be provided with our research data, business development human resources, research and development facilities, material analysis technology and verification costs for commercialization as well as accurate advice and accompanying support for commercialization. Joint verification for commercialization will be conducted over a period of six months, after which a decision on commercialization will be made in summer of 2025. In the event of commercialization, we will also consider the possibility of investment from MMC Innovation Investment Limited Partnership, which is our corporate venture capital (CVC), and other investors.

This program is implemented with the support of UNIDGE, Inc., a strategic subsidiary of AlphaDrive Co., Ltd. that specializes in open innovation support.

  (2) Collaborative creation partners for the commercialization of the following three themes proposed by MMC

  1. Development of flexible alloys that break the bounds of common knowledge of metal materials
  2. Electronic devices that use all-solid-state electric-double-layer thin-film transistors
  3. Examination of ways to utilize closed mines
