Mitsubishi Materials Corporation
Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has begun selling a system that automatically dismantles used air conditioner indoor units.
Based on the mining and metallurgy technologies we have cultivated over the years; we are developing a nationwide home appliance recycling business in collaboration with home appliance manufacturers. Since heat exchangers of air conditioners contain large amounts of valuable metals, half of used air conditioners are collected by junk removal services, etc., and disposed of by scrap metal scrappers in Japan and overseas. The Japanese government has started initiatives to promote proper disposal of used air conditioners under the Home Appliance Recycling Law, leading to a rise in the amount of used air conditioners accepted at home appliance recycling plants in the near future. Moving forward, it is necessary to dismantle more air conditioners and to effectively recover reusable metals and other materials from them.
Against this backdrop, we have developed a simplified dismantling machine for indoor units of air conditioners, aiming to improve the dismantling capacity of air conditioners. This machine focuses on the structure of indoor units of air conditioners and can easily remove high-value parts, such as heat exchangers and electronic circuit boards without the need for tools. Having operated this machine for approximately five years at our home appliance recycling plant, we have confirmed its high reliability based on its track record. Therefore, we have decided to sell this machine externally to respond to social needs such as labor shortages.
The introduction of this machine will help reduce the number of workers involved in dismantling air conditioners and efficiently secure recovered materials. In addition, we will ensure the processing of used air conditioners, which will increase in the future, and advance the proper disposal of used home appliances.
Mitsubishi Materials Group established Our Commitment of "For people, society and the earth, circulating resources for a sustainable future." Through the development of the home appliance recycling business, we will contribute to building a recycling-oriented society.
