Mitsubishi Materials Corporation ("MMC") established Dental Door Corporation ("Dental Door") to provide the cloud-based dental checkup service, Smart Dental Checkup™, for health insurance operators(*1).
Since December last year, Mitsubishi Materials has worked with Japan Dental Hygiene Association Corporation (Location: Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Junichi Sawai) on the feasibility of the cloud-based dental checkup service, Smart Dental Checkup™. (*2) MMC decided to establish Dental Door and enter the business because based on pilot provision of the service and investigation of the business environment the business has been judged to have sufficient feasibility and potential. With the cooperation of Japan Dental Hygiene Association Corporation, MMC will advance preparations with the aim of starting the service in February 2024.

Smart Dental Checkup™ is a checkup service that digitizes the inside of the mouths of the examinees and that is intended for dental checkups conducted on groups such as workplaces. Digitizing such data will enable examinees to zoom in, zoom out and rotate 3D models of their teeth and gums on their smartphones so they can see every corner of their mouth, which was previously difficult to see directly.
This business will be MMC's first full-scale initiative in the healthcare field and the company will work on the development of systems for use in the service, etc. to commercialize the business with the goal of achieving annual net sales of 5 billion yen as soon as possible.
In the Medium-term Management Strategy for FY2024 to FY2031, the MMC Group set out "Our Commitment" of "For people, society and the earth, circulating resources for a sustainable future". As a result of changes in the social structure, the market related to life healthcare is expected to expand further in the future. Through this service, MMC will contribute to the realization of a prosperous society by contributing to improving the rate of dental checkups and dental clinic visits.
