Integration of Western Japan Production Bases in the Copper & Copper Alloy Business
- Strengthening business value chain and accelerating business growth -

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has started preparations for the integration of the Sakai Plant (Nishi-ku, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture) and the Sambo Plant (Sakai-ku, Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture), with the aim of optimizing production systems and accelerating business growth in the Copper & Copper Alloy business. The integration is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2026.

The Sakai Plant and the Sambo Plant have long maintained a close relationship within the value chain of the Copper & Copper Alloy business, with many billet and cake products cast at the Sakai Plant being processed into wrought copper products at the Sambo Plant. While both sites have developed their own operating systems by leveraging their respective histories and expertise, their geographical proximity within the same city has enabled closer collaboration, and this integration will further advance that cooperation.

This integration represents an important initiative to realize agile and flexible business operations in the Copper & Copper Alloy business. By strengthening the integrated production system from copper casting to processing, we aim to improve manufacturing efficiency and shorten production lead times.

Furthermore, by streamlining decision-making, we will respond more flexibly and swiftly to changes in the market environment and enhance customer service. In addition, by further promoting the mutual exchange of human resources and technologies between the two sites, we will facilitate knowledge sharing and mutual development, thereby accelerating skill enhancement and talent development across the organization. This will lead to a stronger technological foundation and reinforce the basis for sustainable business growth.

Mitsubishi Materials has established "For people, society and the earth, circulating resources for a sustainable future" as Our Commitment. Going forward, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the effective use of resources and the provision of high added-value products, while building a flexible structure that meets diverse needs and further advancing the Copper & Copper Alloy business.
