Mitsubishi Materials Corporation

Switching All Power Sources Used at Saitama Office and Central Research Institute to Renewable Energy
- 60% of Power Sources Used by Mitsubishi Materials Group to be Renewable Energy by FY2031 -

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation decided to introduce electricity which is derived from renewable energy at Saitama Office (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) and Central Research Institute (Naka City, Ibaraki Prefecture).

Mitsubishi Materials group is making technological improvements such as further energy saving efforts and fuel conversion with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 47% (compared to FY2014) by FY2031 and to virtually zero, or carbon neutrality, by FY2046. In addition, we are planning to introduce electricity derived from renewable energy in phases that do not emit CO2 in power generation, and to switch approximately 60% of the power consumed by Mitsubishi Materials group to such sources by FY2031.

As part of the efforts, we will switch all power used at Saitama Office and Central Research Institute to practically CO2 emission-free electricity that utilize environmental values derived from renewable energy from January 2022 and April 2022, respectively. Through these efforts, we plan to reduce annual GHG emissions by approximately 4,200 tons in terms of CO2 emissions (based on the actual total emissions of FY2021 at the two facilities).
