Mitsubishi Materials Corporation

Organizational Restructuring for Expansion and Enhancement of Resource Recycling

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation will make organizational changes on April 1, 2023 to strengthen its resource recycling and renewable energy businesses.
Today, our group announced its "Medium-Term Management Strategy 2031" for the period from FY2024 to FY2031. With "For people, society and the earth, circulating resources for a sustainable future" as Our Commitment, we will build a recycling system of metal resources based on our strengths and realize growth throughout the value chain by expanding the scope, regions, and scale of our operations.
To realize the Our Commitment, we will integrate two of our group's greatest assets and place them under the management of the Metals Company: (1) the Metallurgy Recycling Business (Metals Company), which possesses core technologies for extracting valuable metals from recycled materials; and (2) the Environmental Recycling Business (Environment & Energy Business Company), whose strengths lie in the processes and technology for efficiently dismantling discarded products such as home appliances and automobiles to produce materials for use in copper smelting and other processes. Upon this integration, we will establish a system to pursue and implement the creation of profit-earning opportunities in an optimized manner.
In this way, we aim to build a highly competitive business model by efficiently producing raw materials from waste products that can be fed into copper smelting and other processes, and extracting valuable metals as an integrated business.
In addition, in order to achieve carbon neutrality by FY2046 and meet the goal of generating at least the same amount of electricity consumed by the entire group from our own renewable energy sources by FY2051, we will strategically promote our renewable energy business company-wide.
Under the new organizational structure, our group aims to steadily implement the "Medium-Term Management Strategy 2031".
